Panama City Beach — Three Nights on the Gulf

Panama City Beach — Three Nights on the Gulf

After the busyness of the holiday coast, we needed to exhale.

Panama City Beach was just the place.

The Drive In

The drive from Steinhatchee was wonderful. Little traffic. Great views along the coast and over bridges.

We stopped in Apalachicola and Port St. Joe along the way — both great small towns. Apalachicola was busy, with boat tours along the water. Port St. Joe was quieter. Both were a breath of fresh air after the crowds and traffic we’d been wading through.

Wonderfully refreshing.

And then — a condo on the beach.

High Rises and Hibernation

Panama City Beach is lined with high rises. Tall ones. They go on and on.

But our little condo? Wonderful. We planned to hibernate for a couple of days, walk the beach, and let the world slow down a bit.

Ben and Carma on the balcony — that Gulf air.

Our view from the balcony. Palm trees, white sand, and the Gulf stretching out to the horizon.

The sound of the ocean from the condo was something we never got tired of.

Walking the Beach

We walked. A lot.

The sand here is white and fine. The water — even in January — was this beautiful blue-green that seems almost too good to be real.

Ben taking it all in at the water's edge.

That Gulf color. Unreal.

Happy to be here.

Pelicans, Dolphins, and One Perfect Sunset

We watched the waves. We watched the pelicans. We watched the dolphins — on our last morning, they showed up right off shore. A great send-off.

And one evening, the sunset put on a show.

Sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. We stood there a long time.

Three nights. White sand. Blue water. Good rest.

Just what we needed.

Next up — Gulf Shores, Alabama!
