Flamingo/Birds Sunrise Tour - Pics
We shared videos of our sunrise Flamingo tour in our last post. Here, we share the story in pics. Enjoy!

The beginning of an inspiring sunrise.

Stunning!

The official mode of transportation from the village to the water. Notice the boat on top!

Flat-bottom boat to handle the very shallow water.

Tour guides in camo. A couple from Spain was in the other boat.

Tour guide stood up in the back and used the stick against the bottom of the lagoon to move the boat.

Flamingos flying in the background.

Water was never more than a foot deep.

They are pink because of their diet - pink salmon.

Silhouette of a Roseate Spoonbill

Redish Egrets

Spoonbill nesting

Mangrove trees - fascinating root system

Our guide maneuvered the boat back into this waterway to a cenote.

Sooooo peaceful.
Loved the pics as much as the videos :)
I guessed right on 2 bird species I saw in the videos, and totally flubbed 2 others - ha!
Mosquitoes??? (had to ask - looks so much like south Florida, and the bayou areas of Louisiana)
