Sunday Bike Ride on Paseo de Montejo

We had the wonderful privilege of taking advantage of the Sunday tradition of closing down one side of the main avenue in Merida so that walkers, bicyclists, skateboarders, joggers and families in all sizes take over Paseo de Montejo.

Families, young and old, some just learning to bike, scooters, and more are all a part of this family-oriented event. Bikes for up to 5+ people, some with canopies, navigate the avenue.

We rented a tandem (first time for both of us!) to join the festivities. The pics below tell the story of this event.

After the ride, we enjoyed Huevo Motuleos (an exceptional Yucatecan dish).

🙂 Yes, we are. We are hoping to be able to learn to communicate better with the locals. We are in Spanish class this week. What an exercise to learn a language at our age!

I love the Yuctaneeze! I may try using that around here. Sounds like a good sneeze. It’s more expressive than Yucatecan.
